The opening ceremony of the 12th Volunteer Cultural Festival of Jinan University was held in the International Conference Hall of Zeng Xianzi Science Museum on International Volunteer Day, Dec. 5.
At the opening ceremony, JNU Vice President Rao Min expressed her greeting and appreciation to the volunteers and fully affirmed the achievements of JNU's volunteer work. She encouraged volunteers to promote social civilization; practice socialist core values; and strive to realize the Chinese dream of rejuvenating the Chinese nation, and to construct JNU as a double first-class,”high-level university.
The participating leaders awarded a flag establishing the Cheng Li Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Overseas Chinese Volunteer Service Team initiated by two students, Liu Jingxuan from Taiwan, and Lao Shi-fang from Hong Kong.
They also awarded project funds and awards to representatives of the projects selected for JNU's Spring Buds Project and Guangdong's Yimiao Plan. Representative of the classic Chinese traditional culture disseminator training program in the College of Chinese Language and Culture presented the program's achievements.

With the theme based on the new era, enrich new public welfare, a variety of volunteer service activities, including performances, a relief grocery store and southern Guangdong's intangible cultural heritage experience, will be held during the festival to carry forward the volunteer spirit of dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress; to stimulate the vitality and creativity of volunteer service in the new era; and to create a strong volunteer service atmosphere.
