Although Wu Minggao has settled in Australia, he flies back to Guangzhou every November to celebrate JNU's anniversary. He has kept his school deep in his heart, traveling the world with a JNU logo bag and running a charity marathon in Sydney wearing JNU's logo.

In 2018, he flew to Guangzhou early than usual to attend a reunion of the 1984 class in light industry business administration in October. More than 20 of my classmates became factory directors, he said. “It's certain our class has changed light industry in Guangzhou.”
JNU was among the first 26 universities in China to offer MBAs. When it piloted its Master of Business Administration in 1989, the first in Guangzhou with an MBA program, Wu was the monitor of its first class of 13 students.

This is not Wu's only connection with JNU. His father studied at the school when it was running in Jianyang in 1940s; his daughter chose its management department under his influence; and his son, who had studied in Australia, also earned a doctorate in its management department. All three generations of our family have studied and have been cultivated by Jinan University, Wu Minggao said with a smile.

Over the years, Wu Minggao has been personally repaying his alma mater. Since 1998, he has been an examiner, a member of the Defense Committee and an alumni tutor in the MBA center. No matter how busy his career is, he will spare a third of his time and energy for the construction of MBA education.

Prof. Hu Jun praised him, saying: Loving your alma mater doesn't mean that you have to donate money. Practical actions like Wu Minggao's are also love for his alma mater.
Wu Minggao is the honorary president and an important member of the Alumni Association. After settling in Australia in 2014, he also served as executive vice president and secretary general of the Australian (Sydney) Alumni Association.
