JNU wins prizes in 16th Challenge Cup

Six entries from JNU won prizes in the 16th Challenge Cup National Undergraduate Curricular Academic Science and Technology Competition held at Beihang University from Nov. 7 to 13. JNU Vice President Rao Min led the delegation of participants. JNU, one of the co-launching universities for the next Challenge Cup, won one first prize, three second prizes and two third prizes.
A Survey on the Status Quo and Influencing Factors of National Identity of Young Students in Taiwan: A Case Study of College Students in Taipei from the School of Journalism and Communication won first prize.
Second prizes went to Hall Effect of Photon Spin on Interface and Its Application in Information Processing and Coupled-cavity Passively Q-Switched Yellow Laser with Adjustable Pulse Energy from the College of Science and Engineering, and Impact of Industrial Robot Application on Employment: An Empirical Study Based on Chinese Enterprise Data from the Institute for Economic and Social Research.
Third-prize winners were Research and Development of a Dynamic Detection Car for Geometric Parameters of Modern Tramcar from the School of Electrical Engineering and the Rail Transit Research Institute, and High-Performance Optical Fiber Sensor and Modulator Based on Two-dimensional Transition Metal Sulfide from the College of Science and Engineering.

The Challenge Cup is an extracurricular academic science and technology activity for college students, held twice a year by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the All-China Students' Federation and provincial governments,. Founded in 1989, the competition is regarded as the Olympics of innovative activities for college students. The entries are divided into three categories: social investigation reports and academic papers on philosophy and social sciences; academic papers about natural science; and scientific and technological invention. Each college may submit no more than six entries.
