A 15-day training program in the U.K., the second phase of the Lijin teacher-training program has concluded. The training, organized by JNU's Office of Academic Affairs and Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, was designed to strengthen JNU teachers’ awareness of competition and cooperation of higher education at the international level, and to spread Chinese culture all over the world.

Eighteen teachers from 16 schools and departments on all five JNU campuses participated. They set out for the U.K. on Oct. 13 after receiving approval from State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. The group visited campuses, research institutions, and science and technology parks at 10 well-known universities, including Cambridge, the University of Edinburgh and the University of West London, and attended 20 special lectures. They also made a comprehensive study and held discussions with British university professors, British Education Ministry experts and other government experts over the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship talent-training mechanisms; the exploration of teaching models and teaching methods; the construction of teaching quality assurance;, the exploration of interdisciplinary research; the scientific incubation mechanism of science and technology parks; and the exploration of new modes of engineering education.

The Lijin Program is a way for JNU to further implement the strategy of creating an Overseas Chinese University + Famous University.” JNU will continue to organize teachers to train in ideological and political construction of courses, exchange and learning with Chinese from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as international universities.
