Led by Tan Tianxing, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice president of the China Overseas Studies Association, a delegation of members of China Overseas Friendship Association Council (COFAC) and celebrities from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan visited JNU on Nov. 4. Lin Yifu, vice president of China Overseas Friendship Association and dean of Peking University's Institute of New Structural Economics and Liang Guanguan, vice president of the China Overseas Friendship Association and president of Marlboro Company, took charge of the visit. The visit was intended to review the latest achievements and experience in the development of Guangdong's economy, society and higher education.

JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng briefed the delegation on the ups and downs of JNU's history in its 113 years and pointed out that JNU always shares the same destiny as the development of the country.
Prof. Lin Yifu, also a former senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank, was invited to give a special lecture on A Retrospective of the New China in the Last 70 Years and Prospects in the New Era. Through detailed comparative analysis of Chinese and foreign data, he reviewed the achievements of China's 40 years of reform and opening-up and expressed confidence in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Greater Bay Area will become an international center for technological innovation and the demonstration zone for in-depth cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, he said.
