Prof. Liu Tao of JNU's School of Journalism and Communication won second prize in written comments titled Make the Labor Glory into a Firm Belief in Youth in the 29th China News Awards, announced on Nov. 1 by the All-China Journalists Association.
Speaking on International Labor Day in 2018, General Secretary Xi Jinping mentioned the glory of labor and emphasized making the labor spirit and craftsman's spirit deeply rooted in people's hearts. Liu suggests that facing the current misunderstandings of the words labor and laborers, and the dispersed concepts of reap without sowing in society, it is reasonable to mention labor spirit again and call for labor glory. Society needs to promote labor education and develop it in parallel with morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, Liu wrote. Liu's comments were published on Chinese Youth Day(May 4)2018 and have been approved by the mainstream media. Reprinted on major websites including people.cn and gmw.cn, the comment had a significant impact and was named the Essential Comment of the Year of China Education News in 2018.
