The Understanding China Guangzhou International Conference was held in the Hotel Shangri-La in Guangzhou from Oct. 25 to 27, hosted by the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, the People's Government of Guangdong and the 21st Century Council, and undertaken by the Guangzhou municipal government. Focusing on the theme of a new round of economic globalization and China's reform and opening-up, politicians, strategists and entrepreneurs from all over the world heard the Chinese stories and spread Chinese voices.
As recruited by the organizers, the JNU Youth League Committee and the Youth Volunteer Association (YVA), 44 students from the College of Foreign Languages, the School of Journalism and Communication and the YVA performed voluntary service. They went to places like Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, the Hotel Shangri-La and the Dongfang Hotel to handle guest reception, airport transfers, News conference recordings, conference preparation and photography, ensuring the smooth development of the activities and showing JNU spirit. Their services, professional skills and high spirits were well received by both Chinese and foreign guests and recognized by the organizers.
Volunteers said they were honored to participate. They said they not only deeply understood the new goal of reform and opening up but also felt the bright prospect of the digital economy and global cooperation. Moreover, they said, this experience broadened their vision and improved their skills.
