The second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation and Development Forum, organized by JNU's College of Economics, the Macao Economic Association and the Contemporary China Institute of Hong Kong Baptist University, kicked off at JNU on Sept. 21. With Opportunities, Challenges and Strategies as its theme, the forum discussed the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's regulations, the Bay Area as an international financial hub, its strategical position and cooperation, and the leading role of its central cities and cities of science and innovation.
Participating were about 100 experts and scholars from JNU; the Research Institute of the State Council's Hong Kong and Macao Officel; the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences; the Macao Economic Society; Sun Yat-sen University; the Central University of Finance and Economics; Hong Kong Baptist University; the University of Macao; Taiwan Chengchi University, and the Hong Kong One Country, Two Systems Research Centre. With the aim of utilizing the advantages of Hong Kong and Macao, serving the Belt and Road Initiative and sharing strategic opportunities, the JNU College of Economics, the Macao Economic Association and the Institute of Hong Kong Baptist University jointly established the forum in 2018, agreeing to hold it annually in three places in turn. This was the second time it was held at JNU. Prof. ZhongYun of JNU's College of Economics said in the closing ceremony that the forum had a special meaning for this discussion and strengthened all participants’ confidence in the prospect of future cooperation and development in Greater Bay Area.
