A JNU delegation led by Deputy Party Secretary Xia Quan went to Nanxiong in Shaoguan, Guangdong, from Sept. 7 to 8 to discuss cooperation between the university and the local government. The delegation also examined the implementation of targeted alleviation of poverty in Ruoguo Village, Shuikou Town, Nanxiong.

On Sept. 7, the two parties held a Cooperation Forum in the government's conference hall. The forum focused on further implementing the Protocol of the JNU-Nanxiong Joint Base for Practice and Education and the rural revitalization strategy. Nanxiong Deputy Mayor Wang Youhua and principal leaders of the government's agencies attended.

Wang called on towns and government agencies to focus on cooperation and actively contact one another. He said he hoped the cooperation agreement could be fully implemented and make great achievements to boost local industrial development.

Xia said he expected that both the university and the local government would make every effort to plan implementation, resource integration and brand-building. By establishing a new base for practice and education, he said, he hoped breakthroughs would be made as the city strives to become a demonstration area in economic development and innovation and, at the same time, to promote JNU's academic development.

Accompanied by Deputy Mayor Ma Ximei on Sept. 8, the delegation headed for Ruoguo village to examine the implementation of poverty alleviation. It visited a recreational square, Xiaosi Academy and the planting base for traditional Chinese medicine there, and Ruoguo primary school to celebrate Teachers' Day.
