The JNU's team Xp0intJNU won first prize, with its points ranking 10th nationally, in the 12th National College Student Information Security Contest Finals of Innovation and Practice in Chengdu on July 27 and 28. It also won the Individual Award for Cyber Security Innovation, with its total points ranking second in the country. The contest was sponsored by the Ministry of Education's Advisory Committee of information Security Teaching in Higher Education and the Cyber Security Foundation of China Internet Development Foundation, and organized by the University of Science and Technology of China.

On March 15, 1,323 teams from 486 universities in 31 provinces and autonomous regions – 6,037 people in total – signed up for the contest. After three months of competition, including the national online competition and eight division contests in which the top 10 teams of each division contest would reach the finals, 80 stood out. Having won the special award in the South China division contest, Xp0intJNU from the College of Cyber Security reached the finals.

The competition scenes and rules, repeatedly discussed by dozens of core experts on the technical committee, were designed for discipline construction in the cyberspace security field and the cultivation of students' innovative practical ability to meet the requirements for the competition platform, practice platform and innovation platform. All the questions were set by the students and then strictly evaluated and selected by the core expert group. As many as 17 high-quality test questions covered such novel test points as virtual instruction set analysis, micro-service, machine learning, security protection, anti-debugging and obfuscation, state secrets and communication protocols. This competition comprehensively tested the teams' true technical strength and innovative ability, effectively improving students' ability to create, analyze, discover and solve problems.

JNU's Cyber Security Interest Association has organized the cyber security summer training camp, the winter competition special training camp and the CTF Freshman Cup for students in all majors all over the country. It also trains and selects many innovative and practical talents through activities like the Shian Cup Guangdong University Students Cyber Security Competition, organized by the Guangdong Cybersecurity Detection and Protection Engineering Center. These talents have also achieved good results in top national cyber security competitions, including the Qiangwang Cup, the Wangding Cup, the National University Cybersecurity Association, Tencent CTF and Byte CTF.
