Lin congratulated the association on its establishment and thanked the alumni for their long-term support of JNU’s development. He noted that this year also happened to be the 20th anniversary of the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We gladly welcome a new member that integrates Hong Kong traditional Chinese medical resources to serve the Hong Kong people to the Jinan University Alumni Association family, he said. More important, it is also a new team that supports our motherland, the Hong Kong region and JNU, contributing to not only the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, but the principle of One Country, Two Systems.
(Lin speaking)
Liang read out JNU's approval document establishing the association, and Luo read a congratulatory letter from the JNU Alumni Association. All members of the Supervisory Board took the oath of office, administered by Chen Jiaxu.
At the inauguration ceremony, Zhang Huailie, the association's founding president and a registered traditional Chinese medicine doctor in Hong Kong, said he would actively promote the academic work of the traditional Chinese medicine industry in Hong Kong and strengthen links among Hong Kong alumni. He said the association would carry out charitable activities to spread traditional Chinese culture, Chinese medicine culture and the JNU spirit to the world.
(Zhang giving a speech of thanks)
The School of Traditional Chinese medicine has trained many Chinese medicine professionals over the years. After graduating from JNU, Hong Kong students have engaged mainly in clinical practice. About 600 JNU graduates are practicing Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, a solid force in the development of traditional Chinese medicine there.
