During the contest, students discussed how to develop central cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with the four major cities -- Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou and Shenzhen -- as the core engines of regional development. They also discussed how to continue to make the most of these central cities' distinctive advantages to better drive the development of adjacent areas. All teams expressed many opinions on the coordinated development of the Greater Bay Area's city clusters, recognizing the four major cities' distinctive advantages and positioning. In the required question and quick-response segments, students showed their understanding of internationally accepted accounting knowledge, the differences in the fiscal and taxation polices of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao; and current issues in financial news. They competed in policy interpretation, professional skills, creativity, expression and cooperation. They also brainstormed and gave presentations based on their understanding of integration of the accounting service rules and coordinated development of the three areas.
The contest, which focused on youth and professional accounting services, aimed to encourage young talents from the three areas to grasp the general requirements of the Greater Bay Area development and to meet the need of China and the area's future. It was also designed to explore and advance coordinated development among the three areas and to give full play to professional accounting services in deepening their win-win cooperation.
Participating were Sun Yat-Sen University, Jinan University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of Macao and City University of Macao. The contest attracted extensive attention and was reported by Zijing Network, Macao Daily, Ifeng News, and Guangdong Radio and Television.
