Prof. Liu Zenghe of JNU's College of Arts has published an article titled Military Financing in Late Qing Frontier Defense in Social Science in China.

Based on public and private archives of the late Qing dynasty collected by archives on Taiwan and the Chinese mainland, this paper studies the major actions by the Qing government to allocate the military expenditure supply in protecting the border area. 

The paper was published in Social Science in China for three significant reasons: its foundation of rich and solid archival literature; its rigorous and meticulous argumentation process; and its dialogue with existing research for correction. It is one of the phased achievements for the National Social Science Fund major projects that Liu has undertaken.
