Prof. Nigel French, academician of the Royal New Zealand Academy of Sciences and director of the New Zealand Food Safety Science and Research Centre/China-New Zealand Food Protection Exchange Network, led an eight-member delegation to JNU on May 9. The delegation included experts and scholars from food safety research institutes and universities in New Zealand.
JNU Vice President Hong An described cooperation between JNU and New Zealand in food safety, medicine and health. She expressed hope for deeper cooperation in joint declaration of international cooperation projects in food safety, water research and non-communicable diseases through student and personnel exchanges.
French expressed the network's intentions for cooperation with JNU, pointing out that the center would provide 10 doctoral places with scholarships for China every year and would welcome the school's faculty and students to study at the center. The two sides will collaborate in areas of common interest and exchange scholars for scientific research.
A professor from JNU's Department of Food Science and Engineering reviewed its team construction in research on food safety and its previous achievements in the Joint Laboratory of China-New Zealand Food Safety. The two parties hope to build a China-New Zealand Food Protection Exchange Network and enhance the depth and breadth of cooperation in the field, thus achieving win-win progress.
