JNU was among 23 units listed in the first batch of the Policy and Theory Research Base of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, in accordance with a document issued by the ministry's General Office. In the Symposium on the Theory of Civil Policy in the New Era organized by Hunan University on April 27, Prof. Feng Shuaizhang, dean of JNU's Institute for Economic and Social Research and head of the base, accepted the honor from an official of the ministry's Policy Research Center.  JNU will conduct research on policy theories in social welfare and assistance.

Approved by the ministry's party group, these bases are the first platforms established in the ministry's name. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, all the bases will focus on implementing major decisions and arrangements made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, giving full play to their roles in improving civil undertakings.
