JNU's Team One won first prize and the AI Image Super-Resolution Application Innovation Prize at the ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge finals held by Dalian University of Technology on April 25. It was the first time JNU had made it to the finals.
Team One took fifth place in total score. JNU's Team Two won second prize, placing 21st in the preliminary round.
One of the three international supercomputer competitions, along with the International Supercomputer Conference (ISC) in Germany and the Supercomputer Conference (SC) in the United States, the ASC Student Supercomputer Competition is the world's largest and most attended college student super-competition event. It has been held for eight consecutive years.
Launched by the Asia Supercomputer Community, Inspur and Dalian University of Technology, ASC19 attracted more than 300 college teams from six continents. JNU's Team One competed with 19 other teams, including those from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany.

The JNU teams were organized jointly by the School of Intelligent Science and Engineering and the Institute of the Internet of Things and Logistics Engineering, and tutored by associate professor Yang Guanghua of the institute. Team One consists of Chen Xiaohong (team leader), Zhang Huanrong, Deng Changxing, Chen Yihong and Wen Yonghao. Team Two comprises Liang Ziquan (team leader), Wu Zhenheng, Wang Xiaoteng, Ye Junjie and Cao Yixiao.

Thrilled with the results of the final round, Chen Xiaohong, a trophy in her hands, said she felt fortunate to have had this opportuntty. During the past almost six months, we heartened each other and made progress together, she said. I have learned a lot, from discovering problems to settling them, harvesting every day.
