The signing ceremony of the Agreement on the Construction of Shenhe People's Hospital between the Heyuan Municipal Government and JNU was held in the Heyuan Municipal People's Government on April 4, ushering in the preparation stage of the hospital.
On behalf of JNU and the Heyuan Municipal Government, JNU Vice President Ye Wencai and Xiao Zhenxing, member of the government's Party Leadership Group, signed the agreement. In attendance were JNU President Song Xianzhong; Li Zhizhong, vice president of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University and president of Heyuan People's Hospital; Heyuan Mayor Ye Meifen, and other leaders.

Scheduled to open in 2021, Shenhe People's Hospital is sponsored by the Shenzhen Municipal Government with 1.6 billion yuan and operated by JNU, both of which signed a framework agreement in November 2017. Under the agreement, the First Affiliated Hospital is in charge of preparing, managing and operating Shenhe People's Hospital. In accordance with the standards of the Grade III Level A general hospital Under JNU, the hospital will set up a complete Grade III Level A hospital system, focusing on developing specialties in cancer, pediatric, respiratory, neurosurgery and cardiovascular medicine. The hospital's goals are to become a Grade III Level A general hospital within five years of opening and to establish a regional medical center in the northeast of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area within eight years.
JNU fully understands the importance of the project to the health of the people of Heyuan and the construction of a 'healthy highland' -- a place with abundant and advanced medical resources –in eastern Guangdong in Heyuan, Song said. JNU and the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University will fully invest in the preparatory work of Shenhe People's Hospital to strive to provide the best-quality medical services to the people of Heyuan as soon as possible and jointly promote the development of Heyuan's medical and health care.”
Ye expressed gratitude to JNU for its support to Heyuan's health works. At the same time, she said she hoped JNU would take advantage of the talents to form an excellent operation and management team to make Shenhe People's Hospital a distinctive Grade III Level A hospital and a regional medical service center for eastern, western and northern Guangdong.
