In the competition, where Shanghai Jiao Tong University Yearbook won the Special Prize, Jinan University Yearbook, together with the yearbooks of four other universities including Wuhan University, were awarded first prize. Seven other universities received second and third prizes.
JNU was one of the earliest Chinese universities to compile yearbooks, starting as early as 1929 and 1930, when the school was still in Shanghai. After the Centennial Anniversary in 2006, the school resumed compiling school yearbooks year by year. JNU Yearbook 2007, officially published by Jinan University Press in 2009, was distributed to the school's departments and later collected in China's major libraries and provincial and municipal archives. In March 2019, JNU Yearbook 2018, the 12th, was published, followed by the official launching of Yearbook 2019.
In the last decade, Jinan University Yearbook has won third prize in the second National Evaluation of Yearbook of Local Chronicles Award; third prize in the first National Quality Evaluation of Yearbook Compilation in Guangdong; and second prize in the Comprehensive Quality Award and framework design and third prize in entry-writing and graphic design in the fifth National Quality Evaluation of Yearbook Compilation.
