JNU's International Exchange and Cooperation Department held the second phase of topic lectures in the Boya International Lecture Room on April 2. Prof. Yabunaka Mitoji from Japan spoke on How Should China and Japan Promote Peace and Rregional Cooperation in East Asia? and Prof. Meron Medzini from Israel spoke on China and Israel in the Belt and Road Initiative. Ishigaki Eki, Japan's consul general in Guangzhou, and Nadav Cohen,Israel's consul general in Guangzhou, attended the opening ceremony, hosted by JNU Vice President Zhang Hong. Nearly 180 teachers and students also attended.
Yabunaka Mitoji shared his own special work experience while comprehensively comparing the social and economic development of China and Japan. He said that in the future, China and Japan need to promote personnel exchanges and deepen mutual trust to promote cooperation and improve their relationship.
Medzini said that, as an important country along the Belt and Road, Israel welcomes and supports the initiative. He said tolerance and friendship between the two countries had promoted cooperation and common development in the new era; facilitated Israel's wider participation in the international division of labor; and propelled in-depth exchanges between Israeli engineers and scientists and technical personnel from other countries.
The Boya International Lecture Room, a series of lectures on cross-cultural exchanges launched by JNU's International Exchange and Cooperation Department, aims to create an on-campus platform for China and other countries to exchange of ideas and culture; innovate the talent-training mode of integration at home and abroad; open a path to the world for JNU teachers and students; and advance the high-level internationalization of education.
