Three professors from Jinan University have made the list of scholars in the fourth national 10,000 Talents Program, issued by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. Prof. Gao Hao of the College of Pharmacy is listed as a science and technology innovation leader in the 10,000 Talents Program. Prof. Zhang Dongmei of the College of Pharmacy and Prof. Tian Xueying of the College of Life Science and Technology are listed as young top-notch talents in the natural science category.
The National High-Level Personnel of Special Support Program, also known as the 10,000 Talents Program, is a significant talents program set up by the Chinese government to give special support to selected outstanding talents, leading talents and young top-notch talents in natural science, engineering technology, and philosophy and social sciences. To date, 17 JNU professors have been included in this program: 9 leading talents and 8 young top-notch talents.

(Gao Hao)
Gao is a Chang Jiang Scholar in the Young Scholars Program; one of the Young and Middle-Aged Leading Talents in Science and Technology Innovation in the Ministry of Science and Technology's Innovative Talents Cultivation Program; an excellent youth scholar of National Natural Science Foundation project; and a Distinguished Professor in the Pearl River Scholars. He is the director of the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine; dean of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine; a member of JNU's Academic Committee; and deputy director of the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmaceutical Innovation. In addition, he has engaged in scientific research on traditional Chinese medicine and natural pharmaceutical chemistry. He has been in charge of four National Natural Science Foundation projects and a number of provincial and ministerial-level projects. He has published more than 100 SCI papers in publications including Nature Communications, is the editor of an English monograph and holds over 10 certified patents. He also serves as an editorial board member or young editorial board member for many SCI (Scientific Citation Index) and core journals in China, as well as a standing director or member of many national and provincial associations. In 2017 he was awarded the May 4 Youth Medal of Guangdong Province.
(Zhang Dongmei)
Zhang is a professor and assistant dean in the College of Pharmacy; deputy director of the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Therapeutic Material Basis and Innovative Drug Research; and a Zhu Jiang Scholar of the Young Scholar Program. She was also selected into the Ministry of Education's Program for New Century Excellent Talents and won the Outstanding Youth Science Foundation of Guangdong Province. Prof. Zhang has devoted herself to the systematic study of drug resistance of Chinese medicine and natural drugs in anti-tumor therapy. In the last five years, she has published more than 100 research papers, including 40 SCI papers, as first or corresponding author, in authoritative magazines J Clin Invest, having an impact factor of 169. She has helped compile two English monographs, applied for three international patents and 10 Chinese patents, and presided over eight projects at the national and provincial levels.
(Tian Xueying)
Tian, a researcher in College of Life Science and Technology, has long researched the origin, life and molecular regulation mechanism of cell lineage; her work is unique and innovative in the cardiovascular research field. Over the last five years, she has published 29 SCI papers, including five original SCI papers as first author, in internationally renowned academic journals including Science, Nature Communications, Cell Research and Circulation Research. With her research works named among the Top 10 Scientific Advances in China in 2014, she has been peer-reviewed by international peers five times. As the principal researcher, she has conducted important programs supported by National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program and Major Program), the National Key Research and Development Project, and three scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels.
