The project launch meeting and implementation seminar on PM2.5 Comprehensive Ozone Control Technology and Targeted Implementation Demonstration in the Pearl River Delta, a JNU national key research and development program led by Prof. Zheng Junyu of the Institute for Environment and Climate Research, was held in Guangzhou on Dec. 13.
The project is intended to achieve innovative research results by implementing the main line mechanism causes-key technologies-platform demonstration-solutions, according to the technical requirements for continuous improvement of air quality in the Pearl River Delta area. A fine control system for PM2.5 and ozone pollution in the area will be formed, providing scientific and technological support for the optimization of energy structure-industrial structure upgrading-achieving World Health Organization II target value of PM2.5 and ozone under multi-objective constraints. The project will also demonstrate the continuous improvement of air quality in other key urban agglomerations in China and foreign countries.
