An invited delegation from JNU, led by Vice President Ye Wencai, visited five world-famous universities in England and Ireland from Nov. 25 to Dec.1: Oxford, the University of Birmingham, the University of Sheffield, the University of Edinburgh and University College Dublin.
On Nov. 26, the delegation visited Oxford, focusing on the Medical Sciences Division's Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics. The two universities discussed students and staff exchanges, cooperation in international conferences and scientific research, and further, the future cooperation projects.
At the University of Birmingham, the two sides exchanged ideas on various disciplines, including public health, chemistry and pharmacy, expanding their fields of cooperation in school operation. They had previously established the University of Birmingham Joint Institute at Jinan University, with this visit furthering the cooperation.

On Nov. 28, the delegation visited the University of Sheffield's Department of Chemistry, the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience. It exchanged views with representatives of the University of Sheffield on cooperation in the fields of pharmacy, chemistry, medicine, economics and related disciplines. The two universities reached an agreement on future cooperation.
The delegation also visited the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Inflammation Research, exchanging ideas with the center's leaders on in-depth cooperation in medicine, pharmacy and other professional fields.
In Dublin, the delegation met with Dolores O'Riordan, vice president of University College Dublin. Afterwards, it divided into groups to hold in-depth discussions with the heads of the School of Medicine, the School of Biomedical and Health Science, the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research, and the College of Business. The two universities had in-depth discussions on issues such as student exchange, teacher exchange and scientific research cooperation; they finally agreed on reached a number of intentions for cooperation.
