As the highlight of 100 events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of JNU's business disciplines, the 15th China Financial Research Conference was held at JNU on Nov. 10. More than 800 Chinese experts and scholars from 222 universities and 20 institutions or enterprises had extensive discussion on the domestic financial issues.
Cosponsored by JNU and the Council of China Financial Research Conference, the conference was held by JNU's College of Economics and Institute of Financial Research and assisted by the magazine South China Finance.

President Song Xianzhong gave a broad overview of JNU and its business disciplines which consist of two parts: economics and management disciplines. They were both established in 1918. In 1980, the School of Economics was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education; it is one of the earliest colleges of economics in China, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the top in China. In the 2018 Shanghai Ranking of the Best Subjects in China, applied economics at JNU ranks in the top 10% in China. Over the last 100 years, JNU's business disciplines have trained more than 50,000 economic and management talents, with the largest number among Chinese universities of economic talents in countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. JNU's Department of Banking was established in the early 1920s. The international finance department, established in 1978, is one of the earliest such departments at Chinese universities. Its doctoral program in finance was established in 1998, and its finance discipline was selected as one of the 10 National Key Disciplines in finance in 2007.
Scholars who attended the conference came from 60 famous universities outside mainland China, including the Pennsylvania State University, Columbia University, Hong Kong University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of Macau and National Taiwan University. What's more, the participants of this conference consists of 162 noted universities in mainland China, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and JNU. Besides, there were 20 institutes and organizations attended this conference, including the International Monetary Fund, State Foreign Exchange Administration of the People's Republic of China, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, securities companies and banks.
Established in 2004 and rotating annually among major universities in China, the conference has become one of the most important conferences in China with the highest quality academic standards. Its council members come from universities in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan that are advanced in finance, economics and management.
More than 610 academic papers were submitted to the conference; 186 were accepted and read in the 41 sub-forums. Over 160 scholars reported their latest research findings.
