Bai Yuhong, deputy executive editor in chief of Light: Science & Applications , an open access journal, and Guo Chenzi, the editor, visited JNU and gave a career talk titled Exceed Thesis Writing, Serve Scientific Research for JNU students on Nov. 2.
Published jointly by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nature Publishing Group, Light is a very influential journal in China and has ranked among the top three optical journals worldwide by SCI for four consecutive years. It holds the National Youth Academic Forum of Optics every year and has established the Future Star award, Best Reviewer award, Best Reader award and Light Young Scientist award, which have great influence both in China and abroad.
This is the first time the editors of Light have traveled to Guangdong. More than 120 teachers and students from JNU and other universities attended the career talk.

Starting from the general idea and experience of Light, Bai analyzed the situation of domestic academic journals and expressed her journal's hope to serve the vast number of scientific research personnel. Then she shared the experiences of its success in the last six years. She also showed participants the journal’s special issue on the Guangdong area.
After the talk, the two editors, accompanied by Prof. Li Baojun of the Institute of Nanophotonics on JNU's Panyu campus, visited the institute and discussed the journal' publication of articles on nanophotonics research with teachers and students there.
