In the Quacquarelli Symonds Global Education Group (QS) rankings of Asian universities for 2019, JNU ranked 151st in Asia and 35th in China. Its ranking has risen by 33 over last year's 184th in Asia. JNU is said to be one of the most progressive Asian universities.
JNU's International Degree Student Ratio, which has consistently been first among mainland universities, was 13th in Asia this year with 99.9 points. The most important indicator of its progress is article citations, 30 higher than last year and 86th in Asia.
International Research Network, a new index in the 2019 QS Asia University Rankings, analyzes schools’ degree of internationalization through transnational cooperation as shown in the Scopus database. JNU ranks 111th in this index, reflecting the improvement of its internationalization level in scientific research.
Six of the top 10 universities in the rankings are from China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan). The National University of Singapore regained the top spot; the University of Hong Kong ranked second; and Tsinghua University and Nanyang Technological University tied for third.
The QS World University Rankings, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the U.S. News Best Global Universities and the Academic Ranking of World Universities are the four authoritative rankings with extensive influence worldwide.
