The JNU library held its centennial celebration and a seminar on the construction of a double first class wisdom library, an intelligent building designed by applying intelligent technology to library construction, on Oct. 26. More than 120 people attended the ceremony, including JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng and President Song Xianzhong, as well as experts from the news media and the publishing industry; journalists; colleagues from university libraries in and beyond Guangdong; Guangdong Library Society President Liu Honghui; and Liu Hongbing, secretary of the party committee of the Nanfang Media Group; and teachers and students. The ceremony was hosted by JNU's chief librarian, JNU Shi Xiaojun.

Lin reviewed President Xi Jinping's visit to JNU's World Overseas Chinese Literature Library on Oct. 24. He said Xi had highly praised its collection of overseas Chinese and ancient books, which was both the glory of all members of JNU and a stimulus to the university. Song read a congratulatory letter from the college branch of the Library Society of China.

At the ceremony, the JNU Library-Guangdong Press Library and the Chinese Dialect Literature and Information Center were opened. The JNU Library Collection of Rare Ancient Books and the Collection of Rare Chinese Ancient Books-JNU Library Volumes were launched, along with the wisdom library's online platform.

In the last three years, JNU departments, the World Overseas Chinese Literature Library, the Guangdong Press Library, the Chinese Dialect Literature and Information Center, and JNU's Intellectual Property Information Service Center have been established with the support of the State Council's Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs. The JNU Library's achievements have highlighted JNU's characteristics as a university for overseas Chinese, passing on excellent culture, building service disciplines, and promoting the development of local science and technology.
At present, the library comprises five libraries in Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen, with total area of 80,099 square meters and about 9,650 reading seats. As of August, its collection included 4,165,000 pieces of various types of printed literature; 180 Chinese and foreign-language databases; 2.29 million Chinese and foreign e-books; and 51,000 electronic journals.
