The first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Cooperation and Development Forum was held at JNU's College of Economics on Oct. 13, with the theme of The Greater Bay Area: Innovation and Cooperation. Among the speakers at the opening ceremony were JNU Deputy Party Secretary Xia Quan; Liu Benli, honorary chairman of the Macau Economic Association; Xu Zhihua, deputy director of the Advanced Institute for Contemporary China Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University.
This forum centered on issues including Institutional Innovation and Cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, Coordinated Development of Industries in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau's Function and Position, Business Environment in the Greater Bay Area, Institutional Innovation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and Building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and Development of Hong Kong and Macau.
Over 100 experts and scholars participated, from institutions and universities including the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macau Studies; the Institute for Hong Kong and Macau of the State Council's Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office; the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province; the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences; China Bank (Hong Kong); Phoenix Satellite Television; the Macau Economic Association; Sun Yat-sen University; Jinan University; Ningbo University; Northwest University; Hong Kong Baptist University and the City University of Macau.
Xia expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the forum and gave a briefing on JNU and its College of Economics. This year is the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the college, which has trained more than 40,000 economic talents who have worked in more than 100 countries and regions. It has trained the most economic talents it has trained for the countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road initiative ranks first in China. Hong Kong-Macau economic research is an important direction and characteristic of the college's courses.

On Oct. 5, with support from the Overseas Friendship Association of Tianhe District, participating the experts and scholars visited the Atlas and Agile Property Maker Space, the startup base of the Hong Kong-Macau youth home in Tianhe District; Flower City Square; the Central Business District Management Committee and the Yangcheng Creative Industry Zone. They listened to Director Lin Huibin's introduction to the youth home and interacted with young people from Hong Kong and Macau who started businesses in Guangzhou. As a result, they said, they felt the strong atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
