A JNU project, Study on Mechanism of the Generation of Neural Crest Cells during Early Development of the Chick Embryo With Atg7-Mediated Autophagy, won the Distinguished Paper award at the National Conference on Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Jimei University from Oct. 12 to 14. The project was carried out by a team of students from the School of Basic Medical Science -- Chen Enni, Liang Chang and Wu Jiawei -- instructed by Prof. Yang Xuesong and Prof. Wang Guang. This is the sixth time JNU project honored at the conference since the sixth one. The award is also one of the four highest honors won by universities in Guangdong in this year's conference.

The conference attracted participants from all the universities in the 985 Projects and 211 Projects and other local institutions of higher education. They submitted 833 innovation and entrepreneurship projects, including 392 academic papers and 441 presentations, from universities directly under ministries and commissions of the Central Government and from local education authorities. The conference selected 20 Distinguished Papers, 20 My Favorite projects and 20 Most Creative projects, representing the latest achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship among all national high-education institutes.

The National Conference on Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship is an important annual event based on the National Students' Platform for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program. Among national reforms in higher education, it has been one of the events that cover institutes most widely, rank at the highest level, are most influential and have the most participants.
