JNU Prof. Gao Hao has been selected as one of the Young and Middle-Aged Leading Talents in Science and Technology Innovation by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the Innovative Talents Cultivation Program.
Young and Middle-aged Leading Talents is one of the most important categories in the Cultivation Program for talents who can lead the development of scientific and technological innovation in state-of-the-art and strategic emerging industries and accomplish major scientific and technological tasks. Those selected are the backup for the National Special Support Program for High-Level Personnel Recruitment, also known as the 10,000 Talents Program. JNU professors Guan Bo'ou, Ding Ke and Prof. Shao Ming were previously selected for the program.
Gao is a professor and doctoral supervisor in JNU's College of Pharmacy; director of the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine; dean of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine; and a member of JNU's Academic Committee. He is also deputy director of the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmaceutical Innovation and the Guangdong Research Center on Disease Susceptibility and Traditional Chinese Medicine Research and Development. In addition, he has engaged in scientific research and teaching of traditional Chinese medicine and natural pharmaceutical chemistry. He has hosted five successive National Natural Science Foundation projects and a number of provincial and ministerial-level projects. In the last five years he has published more than 50 SCI papers in publications including Nature Communications. He holds over 10 certified patents.
Gao won second prize for National Teaching Achievement for Higher Education and first prize in the Guangdong Teaching Achievement (higher education). He has been awarded the Guangdong May 4th Youth Medal and selected as a Guangdong Outstanding Teacher. He has been awarded the Young and Middle-Aged Innovative Talents Award and other scientific research awards by China Association of Chinese Medicine.
