Twenty students and teachers from JNU' International Business School, led by School Director Lü Qingwen, attended the second Maritime Silk Road China (Guangdong) International Communication Forum at the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center on Sept. 20. The forum was organized by the Guangdong provincial government and CCTV, and undertaken by the provincial committee's Ministry of Propaganda and the Zhuhai government. With New Age, New Silk Road, New Image as its theme, the forum had the international communication forum as its main forum, with subforums on brand communication of Guangdong, technological innovation and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay. It also included exhibitions on Guangdong's achievements in intelligent manufacturing, cultural innovation and intangible cultural heritage.
Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former prime minister of France, commended China's reform and opening-up and Guangdong's development achievements. He appealed for increased international cooperation to go hand in hand with China to create a brighter future for humanity. Thomas J. Sargent, winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Economics, lectured on how increase in labor productivity makes tremendous changes in a country's economy based on data comparison between China and the United States and his own research in Shenzhen.
