In the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, which ended on Sept. 2, Su Bingtian, an associate professor in JNU's Physical Education Institute, and three students, Chen Aisen, Xie Siyi and Lyu Yanlan, won four gold medals and one bronze medal. They are the pride of JNU, Guangdong and China.
Su, China's star sprinter, set a new Asian Games record with a time of 9.92 seconds and won the gold for China. Immediately after, in an interview with CCTV, he expressed special thanks to JNU, I really appreciate JNU for its support and help, he said. Without the support of my school, the Chinese track and field team and my family, I could not have made such achievements this year. Thank you very much indeed!

In the men's 4x100-meter relay final, the Chinese team consisting of Su, Xu Haiyang, Mi Hong and Xu Zhouzheng landed a bronze medal with a time of 38.89 seconds.

A fierce diving competition at the Jakarta games took place from Aug. 28 to Sept.1. Chen Aisen and Xie Siyi, members of JNU's high-level sports team and member of the 2014 class in international business and trade, won three gold medals for China's national diving team.
Xie won two golds, in the men's 3-meter board and 3-meter board synchronization. Chen, the Double Winner in the 2016 Rio Olympics, and his teammate Yang Hao won the championship with a total of 466.47 points, far ahead of the second-place finisher in the men's 10-meter tower synchronization.
Lyu, a Macao strecommended for admission to JNU and now a sophomore majoring in traditional Chinese medicine, broke the previous Macao record of 24:82 for women, clocking 24:73 in the preliminary match of Women's 200-meter track and field event on Aug. 28.
