The joint symposium of the 2018 International Neural Regeneration Symposium, the 11th Asia Pacific Symposium on Neural Regeneration, the 2018 International Spinal Cord Injury Treatments and Trials Symposium and the second Seminar on Neural Regeneration and Treatment Commission of Chinese Research-Oriented Hospital Association was held by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Institute of CNS Regeneration (GHMICR) and the Neural Regeneration Research publishing house at the Soluxe Hotel Guangzhou from July 26 to 29.
Prof. Thomas C. Südhof, 2013 Nobel Prize winner in physiology or medicine, and Prof. Michael V. Sofroniew of UCLA were invited to give keynote reports. About 30 globally known experts from various countries and about 20 famous Chinese scholars of neural regeneration, including Academician Gu Xiaosong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave their reports. Overall, the symposium attracted nearly 800 attendees from over 30 units such as domestic and oversea academies, research institutes and clinical hospitals. Around 300 posters were presented.

The symposium focused on the latest results of basic and clinical medicine in the field of neural regeneration in recent years, and reflected the latest theoretical research and clinical application of the subjects within the field of neural regeneration, such as translational medicine and neural regeneration (stroke, brain trauma, neurodegenerative diseases), tissue engineering and neural regeneration (construction of biomaterials, stem cells, and neural tissue), neuroplasticity and neural regeneration, neuroimmunology, neuroinflammation and neural regeneration, autophagy and neural regeneration, exercise, brain health and neural regeneration, and big data analysis and neural regeneration, etc.

The symposium, which has been successfully held for seven times since 2011, is an important event in the field of neural regeneration, as well as an annual event of National Base for Discipline (111 Program) of GHMICR and of International Joint Laboratory of CNS regeneration of Ministry of Education.
