The 21st World Packaging Conference was held in the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center from June 19 to 22. Hosted by the International Association of Packaging Research Institutes (IAPRI), it was organized by JNU's Institute of Packaging Engineering and Hunan University of Technology (HUT). JNU Vice President Liu Jiesheng spoke. Wang Zhiwei, assistant to JNU's president and chairman of the conference, hosted the opening ceremony.
Participants in the opening ceremony included Jay Singh, president of IAPRI; Edward A. Church, secretary general of IAPRI; Yan Wu, deputy mayor of Zhuhai; Ao Wennan, vice president of China Packaging Federation (CPF); Wu Hongjun, vice secretary general of CPF; Tang Weibing, HUT's party secretary; and HUT Vice President Zhang Changfan.

The IAPRI conference is a biennial academic event in global packaging academia. The conference theme was Packaging: Driving a Sustainable Future. More than 250 scholars, including over 80 foreign representatives from 24 countries, were invited to speak at the conference. With 24 parallel sessions, the conference discussed 151 papers and published a collection of papers, including full text of 116.Twenty more papers will be published in the journal Packaging Technology and Science (William Press).
