A delegation led by Alice Rubini, Italy's deputy consul-general in Guangzhou, visited Jinan University to discuss cooperation between Italian universities and JNU. Claudio Petti, a teacher in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Salento, joined the visit, representing Italian universities. JNU Vice President Zhang Hong met with Rubini and her delegation. In attendance were the heads of JNU's Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the School of Management.

Zhang reported that JNU had established cooperation with the Universities of Salento, Bologna and Florence. In particular, the joint scientific research program of JNU's School of Management and the University of Salento has now been running smoothly for six years with the support of the European Union's Horizon 2020 program, which has made student and faculty exchange visits frequent. Zhang said he hoped this visit would deepen exchanges and collaboration in related scientific research programs, benefiting cooperation in more subjects and talents.
Rubini said she supported the academic exchanges and cooperation between the University of Salento and JNU. Petti said the two universities had made great achievements in teacher-student interaction and scientific cooperation between the disciplines of economics and management, and that they would expand the field and scale of scientific research cooperation on the basis of existing projects. He also proposed that the two universities take turns holding an annual academic exchange summer camp in the form of academic seminars and graduate academic salons to achieve better communication among scientific research teams.
