JNU's project for processing pheretima, a kind of earthworm used in traditional Chinese medicine, was included in the first batch of national virtual simulation experimental teaching projects announced by the Ministry of Education on May 31. It is a historic breakthrough for the national teaching platform of pharmacy at JNU, and it is the College of Pharmacy's first national teaching achievement since the college was recognized as a double first-class discipline.
Out of 303 projects proposed in 2017, the Ministry selected 105 with high social appraisal and good practical and exemplary effects. Only 10 pharmaceutical projects were selected, and JNU's is the only one from Guangdong. Led by Prof. Cao Hui of the college's Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Center, the project was jointly conducted by the college's teaching team on processing of Chinese materia medica, the teaching center for virtual processing simulation experiments on pharmacy, and off-campus enterprises. The content includes virtual processing simulation experiments, summary of acquired knowledge, classroom tests and other functional modules. The online application receives more than 700 hits a month, providing a platform for students both at and outside JNU to learn professional knowledge and experimental skills.
