The opening ceremony of the National Experimental and Teaching Demonstration Center of Life Science and Technology was held on May 9 at JNU's administrative building, hosted by Vice President Zhou Tianhong. The ceremony announced the university's decision to appoint Zhou as the center's director center and He Qingyu as director of its construction and operation committee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Ye Wencai asked the center to consider the teaching reform of the Ministry of Education's new talent training program. While paying attention to the construction of the center's hardware, Ye said, JNU must pay more attention to innovation in undergraduate experimental teaching content to produce innovative experiments and new technologies.

The establishment of the national experimental and teaching demonstration centers is an important aspect of the  Undergraduate Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Project  under the 12th Five-Year Plan and the highest level of national platform in teaching. A total of 100 centers across the country were selected as the demonstration centers in 2015.
