JNU's student team 98K won the Guangzhou quarterfinals of the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2018 at the Heungkong International Innovation Center in Nansha District March 15 and 16, qualifying for the national semifinals in April.
The team members are Bi Xiaolin, Wei Lijun and Chen Qi of the Department of Photoelectric Engineering in the College of Science and Engineering. They invented an intelligent spectrometer under the guidance of Zhu Siqi, a teacher in the department and the Innovative Practice Studio/We Creation Studio of College of Science and Engineering, to test food. Spectrum testing preserves foods so well that commercial popularization of this product and its application in the civil food safety test field may be promoted.
