A course titled Peace and Conflict won first prize in the display of innovative teaching achievements of Chinese-foreign cooperation in school operation held by the Ministry of Education in Suzhou (a city near Shanghai) on April 3. This public elective course was presented by Chen Jianrong, a lecturer in JNU’s School of International Studies. During the display, Chen made a report titled “Peace Can Be Learned and Created.”
Hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange, the display explored innovative practices for teaching courses in foreign languages in the courses in Chinese-foreign cooperative school operation in China. It also introduced advanced overseas education and teaching concepts into universities to promote student development and university reform.
Peace and Conflict began in 2010 as the first course in China under Chinese-foreign cooperation. Its key innovations are to help students enjoy and co-create knowledge in an open learning environment through cooperation, to achieve student-centered education in particular and, more generally, to sow the seed of peace in students' minds.
