A Sino-Germany symposium on Bridging Aerosol Chemistry and Health Effects: Challenges and Opportunities for Analytical Chemistry was held at JNU from March 19 to 23. It was co-hosted by JNU's Institute of Mass Spectrometer and Atmospheric Environment (IMSA) and the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Rostock, Germany. The four-day symposium brought together over 100 experts, scholars and postgraduates from Germany, the United States, Finland, Sweden, Luxembourg, Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and mainland China. They participated in the symposium and visited IMSA’s of industry, university and research base.
The symposium discussed the current status of international research on aerosol chemistry and environmental health. It also promoted bilateral exchanges and cooperation in scientific research and the development of the high-end mass spectrometer. At the symposium, 54 well-known experts and scholars from China and abroad were invited to present special reports and share the latest research on aerosol chemistry and its health effects.
Speakers at the opening ceremony included JNU Vice President Hong An; Dirk Lechelt, the German deputy consul general in Guangzhou; Prof. Zhou Zhen of JNU's Institute of Mass Spectrometer and Atmospheric Environment; Prof. Ralf Zimmermann of the University of Rostock, German director of the symposium; and Li Xue, a researcher in JNU's Institute of Mass Spectrometer and Atmospheric Environment and Chinese director of the symposium.
