The WITTA-JNU School of Translation Studies Joint Office had its unveiling ceremony on JNU's Zhuhai campus on April 3, along with the appointment ceremony of experts on the WITTA Experts Committee of Translation Discipline Curricular Resources Construction Based on Big Data. WITTA’s director, Prof. Li Defeng of the University of Macau; executive vice secretary general, Meven; deputy director of the Multilingual Big Data Research Center, Dr. Wang Huashu; and more than 300 faculty members and students in JNU's School of Translation Studies attended the ceremony.

Meven, who presided over the ceremony, spoke on the development of WITTA, the World Interpreter and Translator Training Association, dedicated to region- and field-featured research and practices centering on talent cultivation. It is now in charge of three innovation centers, for teacher development, big-data application and transformation of intellectual achievements. WITTA and JNU's School of Translation Studies reached consensus over cooperation after over a year of negotiation and preparation. Meven said the Joint Office would cater to national strategic demands in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau region.
Li Defeng, director of the University of Macau's Center for Studies of Translation, Interpreting and Cognition and a visiting professor of JNU's School of Translation Studies, explained that WITTA is an international organization funded by over 40 units. It cooperates in scientific research with universities, curricular construction, faculty training and other aspects. He said the joint office would be an important base for WITTA's development.

Zhao Youbin, dean of JNU's School of Translation Studies, introduced the school's achievements in scientific research, teaching, international cooperation and other aspects. He said the school had confidence in its in-depth cooperation with WITTA in integrated innovation, such as government-industry-university-research cooperation.
At the appointment ceremony, Li awarded appointment letters to Zhao as managing director and to Prof. Lin Wei as a member of WITTA Experts Committee of Translation Discipline Curricular Resources Construction Based on Big Data.
