Makerspace is a program to incubate and operate such projects. Collaboratively operated with JNU's innovation competition, start-up boot camp, and innovation and entrepreneurship incubation base, the Makerspace is committed to building a large-scale and systematic platform for makers. It also seeks angel investment and cooperation with governmental agencies, research institutions, incubators, enterprises, universities and colleges.
Through the collaborative development of all JNU's campuses, Makerspace has developed into a physical space that comprises JNU's main, Panyu, Zhuhai and Shenzhen campuses as well as JNU scientific park. The program has included 290 students and 63 innovation and start-up projects, of which 45 involve students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The space has incubated over 30 registered companies, including the Macao Entrepreneurship Consultant Company, the Guangzhou Sanmi Culture Company and the Diborui Environmental Technology Company. Some projects have an operating income of over one million yuan.
