The Innovation Competition has been held for 10 seasons and 48 sessions in which 480 projects were submitted, 325 were accepted and more than 12,000 people were directly involved. Over 60 papers have been included in SCI/EI. Top 10 Projects have been admitted to the National Conference of Undergraduate on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Nearly 30 awards in the National Challenge Cup and other provincial and national competitions have been won. Next semester, in its 11th season, the Innovation Competition will begin a new journey.
Hosted by JNU's Office of Academic Affairs, the 10th-season finals were held on the Panyu Campus on Dec. 28.
After four qualifying matches, 10 teams from JNU, South China Agricultural University and South China Normal University competed onstage. Two projects from JNU’s College of Science and Engineering won grand prizes: the Handheld Cloud Data-Based Smart Spectrometer, created by Bi Xiaolin's team, and the Efficient Hydrogen Evolution and Application of Controllable Nitrogen Doping Mo2C Electro-Catalyst project, developed by Luo Heng's team.
The Smart Spectrometer project swept the Best Project Award and Most Popular Award. Three projects were awarded first prizes: the Hair-Shampooing Machine for Bedridden Patients, by Wu Qinyang's team from JNU's School of Nursing; the Track Geometry Measurement and Tram Track Diagnostic Tools, by Zhang Zixuan's team from JNU's College of Electrical and Information Engineering; and the Development and Application of Smart Equipment for Hog Houses, by Ni Sheng from South China Agricultural University College of Animal Science. Other projects won second prizes.
