Potapov Alexander Alekseevich, a JNU honorary professor and academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering and the Academy of Natural Sciences, gave the Tsiolkovsky Gold Medal to JNU on Dec. 15. President Hu Jun accepted the medal.
Hu said Potapov had played a significant role in promoting the development of the electronic information discipline at JNU. The Tsiolkovsky Gold Medal is Russia's highest award in the aerospace field, and its presentation to JNU signals the friendship between Chinese and Russian, as well as affirming friendly relations and cooperation between Chinese and Russian researchers, He said. He expressed his wish that Potapov would continue to support JNU's development, help JNU cooperate with international academia and promote the improvement of the electronic information discipline to a new level.
Potapov confirmed JNU's achievements in the electronic information discipline in recent years. He expressed his gratitude that JNU had provided great support to the JNU-Kanzan Federal University laboratory of information technology and fractal signal processing and greatly assisted him in academic research.

The Tsiolkovsky Gold Medal was established in honor of Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky, founder of astronautic theory, considered one of the fathers of Russian astronautics and the world's greatest pioneer of astronautics.
