The documentary Finding Heroes on the Prairie, shot by the I Am a Journalist team from JNU's School of Journalism and Communication, won the Top 10 Videos in the first national selection of the best original videos recorded by Communist Party-owned media. Jointly sponsored by People's Network and the common platform provided by People's Daily for Communist Party-owned media, the selection unveiled its results on Dec. 1.
The competition received 268 entries from 113 units and selected Top 10 Themes,, Top 10 Videos, Top 10 Visuals and Nomination Awards for the best original videos from the media owned by Chinese Communist Party. In addition, a special award was given: Top 10 Videos for the 2017 best original videos of the government offices and enterprises.
In July, the 70th anniversary of founding of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the I am a Journalist team led by Chen Zhe, a teacher in the School of Journalism and Communication, explored Inner Mongolia, traveling more than 2,300 kilometers through deserts and jungles in the western Gobi landscape. The team shot video of prairie heroes' deeds.
Its 40-minute documentary had its premiere on CCTV’s Discovery channel on Dec.19.
