Zhou Liang, a JNU alumnus, was appointed vice chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) in November. Zhou is a member of the CBRC Party Committee, a delegate to the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) and a member of 19th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
He graduated from JNU's College of Economics and majored in economics for master degree. He studied at the college's Economic Research Institute on Special Economic Zones from 1993 to 1996. Since then he has worked for the Guangdong and Hainan provincial governments, the State Commission Office for Restructuring the Economic System, the People’s Government of Beijing and CPC CCDI. Zhou has served as deputy secretary-general of CPC CCDI and both vice minister and minister of its Organization Department.
