JNU celebrated the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China from Nov. 20 to 23. Students from Guangzhou and Hong Kong participated in this big celebration, sponsored by the Guangdong Department of Education, to communicate with one another.
The 45 participants from mainland China included delegations from the Office of Student Affairs and Exchange and Cooperation, the Guangdong Department of Education, and 12 colleges and universities, including JNU, Sun Yat-sen University, South China Agricultural University and South China Normal University. They communicated in depth with officials of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong, the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong universities, and public organizations, and Hong Kong student delegates.

The teacher delegations were mostly the heads of College Student Work Departments in Guangdong. One of their purposes was to gain work experience in college student affairs in Hong Kong.

During the symposium with the Hong Kong Youth and Tertiary Students Association, the delegation, after learning about youth and volunteer work at Hong Kong universities. It also exchanged experiences working in university student affairs and student activities with Wang Wenwen, director of the association, and some key staff members from Hong Kong universities.
