A delegation led by JNU Vice President Zhang Ronghua visited Macao's Tertiary Education Services Office and Education and Youth Affairs Bureau from Nov. 2 to 5. The delegation investigated promoting admissions in Macao, enhancing the registration rate of Macao students, and creating cultivation features in overseas Chinese schools to further increase admission and improve the quality of students from Macao.
The delegation also held Jinan University's 2017 Macao Student Admissions Symposium. It invited leaders of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., the Chinese Education Association of Macao and the Alumni Association of Jinan University, as well as presidents and university counseling directors from about 30 Macao middle schools to summarize 2017 admissions work and hear advice for 2018.
Zeng Guanxiong, vice director of the Tertiary Education Services Office, introduced Macao's higher education. Liang Li, chief of the Youth Affairs Bureau, focused on basic education in Macao. In 2018, Macao will produce no more than 4,700 high school graduates, but over 95% of them will go on to colleges and universities. Among them, half choose to study in Macao and half in mainland China, Taiwan, the United States and Europe. In 2018, 67 colleges and universities of China's Ministry of Education will offer 1,000 places for Macao students to be recommended for admission. Liang said the bureau would continue to assist JNU in promoting admissions, deepening students, parents and teachers' understanding of JNU.
