A project of Prof. Guo Yuan's team from the Foreign Relations Institute of JNU's College of Arts has been approved by the leading group of national philosophy and social science planning. It has formally set up special studies, one of the National Social Science Fund, in maintaining maritime rights and interests. The fund is ¥800,000 in all.
The project, titled Arrangement, Compilation and Research of the South China Sea Files Made by France, Britain, and Japan (17VHQ005), is guided by South China Sea rights protection. Based on arranging and compiling files of Xisha and Nansha Islands made by France, Britain and Japan, it elaborates on changes in the geostrategic situation, discussing the positions and struggles of each side. It also analyzes geopolitical factors influencing the situation and summarizes the lessonson safeguarding China’s the rights and interests of the South China Sea.
Special studies in maintaining maritime rights and interests, especially research in basic theory, aim to promote maritime rights protection, thus providing academic and intellectual support for actively responding to maritime conflicts, maintaining and expanding China's maritime rights and interests, and maritime power construction.
