A four-scholar delegation from Curtin University and the University of Western Australia, led by Prof. Brett Kirk, vice president of Curtin, visited Jinan University on Oct. 30. JNU Vice President Hong An met with the delegation and cosigned a memorandum of understanding on developing scientific research cooperation.
The universities agreed to establish a joint research center in biomedical engineering and quantitative health technology, based at JNU’s College of Life Science and Technology. They conducted in-depth discussion on matters including funding sources.
They also explored the possibility of doctoral student joint education and exchanged ideas on awarding of degrees, intellectual property and cost-sharing. They reached a consensus that they should start by promoting exchange and communication among scholars by regularly organizing seminars to boost communication and thus lay the foundation for the joint education program.
