The Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Biology in JNU's College of Pharmacy has made significant progress in the discovery of precise drug targets and published two papers online on Oct. 1 in Angewandte Chemie International Edition (DOI: 10.1002/anie.201709584. IF = 11.99). National Invention Patents will be sought for the related technologies.
The research team also discovered the important active natural product betulinic acid's action targets, such as PFKFB1, PGK1, APOL2, that act on breast cancer cells. It verified their effects, laying a foundation to elucidate the anti-tumor mechanism of betulinic acid and promote its development. The first authors of the two papers are Chen Ke, a College of Pharmacy graduate in the class of 2015, and Guo Haijun, a graduate in the class of 2014. The respective corresponding authors are Prof. Li Zhengqiu and Prof. Ding Ke of the College of Pharmacy.
The project was financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, Guangdong Province, Guangzhou and JNU’s High-Level University Construction Project.
